the Journal of Citizen Science and Working Memory

The Journal of Citizen Science and Working Memory was inspired by Eric Klinenberg's Palaces for the People. This program organizes a collective inteligence network centered around exposig everyday people to the scientific method and process of discourse. In addition to providing an alternative higher education experience, JCSWM supports local libraries with direct funding.

JCSWM grants are distributed to local institutions where specialists and average people can connect for research. Such locations include, but are not limited to libraries, observatories, clinics, community centers, and nature preserves.

Institutions submit an epistemology (a history and explanation) of the scientific method as their application for funding, and host a one month workshop with five patrons selected at random. During the workshop, specialists teach patrons their version of the scientific method and each patron will select a subject of their choice to study using this formula. Specialists then guide patrons to produce multimedia documentation of their research. Submissions that successfully adhere to the method will be awarded $1,000 for their scholarship and their work added to the JCSWM database.

Still under development, the JCSWM database will be driven by a machine learning engine to eliminate observations as they are disproven, categorize proven theories and guide new participants in new courses of study based on established evidence.
